Search/Recommendation engine and metainformation server for fanfiction net
this version should work through cloudflare
Parsing of favourite pages in Flipper is currently down due to migration to cloudflare FFN performed. I am in the process of investigating what kind of solution I can provide and it seems there's at least a few. Stay tuned.
Meanwhile if you already have your recommendation lists you can use flipper for now, it's only ffn page parsing that is fucked, my own server is okay. Alternatively, you can use chrome extensions to fetch your favourite links manually from your fav page and feed them into flipper directly in "new list" menu. Yet another alternative is to use the bot in the discord below. It uses the same recommendations algorithm as Flipper but since it's on my own PC it was simpler to fix parsing for it so it's currently working.

UPD 2001/01/04 : Seems like fixing the parsing of fav lists will be a part of a bigger infrastructure upgrade I am doing rn. I expect it to take a week or two at least.
Adding a new sorting mode: gems. Mode will sort fics to pull up ones that have barely any favourites on the site but a significant amount of metascore in flipper. The idea is: such fic may be hidden unnoticed gems by the nature of the metascore they achieved in recommendations algorithm (or they can be horrible trash someone faved just out of amusement)
Added a bit of polish to fandom lists functionality:
This release introduces the ability to create fandom lists that allow you to flexibly include/exclude fandoms from your searches. This functionality replaces old ignore list in favor of passing it to a new fandom list called "Ignores"
TLDR: You can now say "only show harry potter and game of thrones but not crossed over with mass effect" and stuff like that. Fandom lists work in descending order so if the same fandom is present in more than one active list, the lowest one takes priority.
This is a mirroring release to match the changes in the server code with the intent to better create initial recommendation lists for people.
This update generally polishes user interaction all around.
Bugfixes:
New stuff:
Improvements:
Retired elements:
Flipper will now try to adjust which sources to use for recommendations creation automatically which hopefully results in better tailored recommendations. Even if the generated lists will be somewhat smaller.
Note that mint client needs to be run with flipper.run and it will crash on the first launch. The second onwards should be fine
What it says in the title. Flipper will be able to read all of your fics to create the recommendation list instead of just 500. If you also set "assign liked to fics" you can then filter on "Liked" tag to see your whole favourites The caveat is that flipper still doesn't know anything about fics not in its database so it may lose a couple from your faves
Expanding on the previous release, I've made selection an actual subsystem in Flipper. Here's how it works now:
Whenever you are clicking on any control on a fic, this fic gets "selected". It's not shown, but flipper will remember it. Afterwards, if you refilter and this fic is again in the new list, you will be able to press a new "crosshair" button at the top of the list to center the view on that fic.
This is especially useful when you are doing retagging on your favourites and need to remove fics you've already processed by refilter. Click on the next "unprocessed" fic. Refilter. Press crosshair. Continue doing what you were doing.
Also, if you navigate with back/forward buttons, list will be centered on the last selection that happened on that history frame and that fic will be highlighted until the next operation happens.
One notable moment: if you click on fic's summary or any other non-control element the fic will ALSO be selected and WILL receive the green frame highlight.
In essence: if you click on a control, the fic is selected but not highlighted. If you click on a non-contol a fic is selected and is highlighted. Motivation for this is that when you click on some control, a fic more often than not is no longer relevant and having it highlighted will just pointlessly draw attention to it. However when you click on a summary this essentially expresses your desire to mark this fic for subsequent refilter.
