Android application to help in strings.xml translation

v0.15

The UI has gained a new black bottom bar with an third option showing more information, such as build version and other useful links thanks to the effort of @gsantner. The translation screen is now more focused on the content, leaving more space for the translations (which is useful on small devices). Landscape is now properly handled on this screen too.

Exporting to issue now will show the translations under

tag so it's less spammy, and as always, a lot of new translations were added.

v0.14

Generally some bugs fixed with exporting, such as handling escaping properly, small rework of the part that handles the resource XML tags, showing the right file when exporting to issue and branch selection, properly ignoring more strings. And as usual, new translations. Thanks to everyone for contributing!

v0.13

  • Removed FAB
  • Better buildscript.
  • Support to export as email/hastebin.
  • Allow cancellation of syncing repositories.
  • New copy link to copy original to translated string.
  • New done button when there are no more strings left.
  • Code improvements, such as not reloading a file for every character typed in search.
  • Updated translations

v0.12

This version introduced the Floating Action Button on the screen where you can add new repositories/projects, as well as more translations and some code style changes.

v0.11

This update brings a lot of internal changes that aim to separate the core functionality of Stringlate from Android itself, so that it can be easily ported to other platforms, like desktop– although there's still a long way to go. These are the most important highlights:

  • Updated translations: Spanish, Czech, Portuguese (Brazil), French and Polish
  • Move code to the public domain, mostly a lot helper methods for other Java projects!
  • Huge code reformatting, and changes in the project structure. This includes having moving a lot of stuff to the new core module.
  • New locale selection dialog, hyper fancy!
  • Some enhancements to the LocaleString class and its display methods.
  • Strings will be saved to disk more often, so an unexpected crash won't make you lose all your work.
  • You won't be asked for confirmation when deleting a locale that has no strings.
  • A new random branch will be created before creating a pull request.
  • Changes to the .copyFile method.
  • New cli module for testing things on desktop platforms.
  • New metadata module to keep screenshots and such separated from the project.

There aren't many changes towards the end user, but a lot of internal changes have indeed been made.

v0.10

Big changes! Although most are internal changes to make sure that everything works as it should, there are a few notable UI changes.

This release also marks a before and an after with version numbers, taking advantage that the version number is now 1000, future updates will increment it by one instead mimicking the version name. Starting at v0.9 was a mistake, but now we have an excuse to make up for it!

New features:

  • New settings activity thanks to the tremendous work of @gsantner. Big thanks!
  • You can synchronize multiple repositories at once now!
  • New activity to peek translations. If you're good at several languages, you can now check how some string has been translated into other languages very easily.
  • Farewell, progress dialogs! Now everything fits perfectly within the UI, so nothing blocks you from using the application while some other task is running.

Bug fixes and enhancements:

  • Rotation should work.
  • Scanning cloned repositories through GitSource should be less IO heavy.
  • Applications using an icon name dependent on the configuration are more prone to have their icon found now.
  • Stringlate's website is now linked when making a pull request, so that people know what Stringlate is about.
  • The progress shown on the discover activity is now more accurate.

Deprecation:

  • Repositories older than v0.9.5 will no longer work, so upgrade to a previous version if you haven't updated for a really long while.

Updated translations:

  • Polish by @9Cube-dpustula
  • Russian by @accuman

Internal changes:

  • A new Java interface has been created to ease creating other "sources" for strings. Like before, only a GitSource is available, but this should make it easier to implement other sources.
  • Lint should be happier. For now.
  • Farewell, ListView! Now a more efficient (and cleaner code) RecyclerView is used.

v0.9.13b

The Polish translation had a small typo (literally a single space, probably due to the automatic space added after periods) that caused the application to crash when showing a message. The typo has been fixed, and the crash should have been gone. Thanks for the report!

v0.9.13

This bug was caused when going back to a previously translated string, completely changing it, and then pressing Next. The text would be lost due to some slightly obscure caching issue– which has been fixed!

As for new features, the menu on the translation activity has a new style, and added projects can specify a "project homepage" that you can open from within Stringlate (thanks @gsantner!). Remember that you can now find the Java API here.

v0.9.12

Some translations updated (thanks to the contributors!), and a new intent API to launch Stringlate through an https URL. For more information, check https://lonamiwebs.github.io/stringlate/

v0.9.11

A new Korean (South Korea) translation is available thanks to @onestrangenews, and the Russian one was updated by @splinet.

This update will let you choose a branch when syncing strings, so you can for instance select dev instead master to have the most up-to-date strings (or just ignore the dialog).

* And a crash when adding a new repository has been both introduced and then fixed.
