wow, dogeweather.com for Android!
Hey everyone, it's been awhile! This is a very small update to bring Weather Doge into compliance with modern Google Play policies.
Due to new restrictions Google has placed on background location updates, the widget will no longer update your location in the background. It will continue to update the weather data in the background, but your location will only be updated when you open the app. We are hoping to restore the original functionality in a later release.
This background location update restriction only applies to the Google Play Services variant of the application. The f
variant is unaffected.
The p
release depends on Google Play Services and other non-free binaries. It is identical to what is provided on the store. The f
release uses the AOSP APIs and does not include Play Services code or non-free binaries. Additionally, the FOSS variant uses a different package name: com.versobit.weatherdoge.foss
New in v1.7 of Weather Doge:
Unfortunately, as of January 3, the Yahoo weather service we were using for Weather Doge was taken offline. We're doing our best to either restore Yahoo as a viable weather source or find an alternative provider. In the meantime, OpenWeatherMap has been selected as the default weather provider for everyone. We appreciate your patience!
