A soft monospace variable font
Thanks to @emmamarichal and @RosaWagner for the final push!
I removed overlaps for all base glyphs and some composites. Which is fun if you want to outline the variable font without seeing the weird–but useful–glyph construction. Also touched up some kerning for the proportional SANS styles.
Well this is fun. It probably still needs a few tweaks, but by all means, play around.
Sono now has a variable MONO axis. Value of 1 = monospace (which is basically what the previous version of Sono was) and value of 0 = proportional. The proportional styles have a "SANS" attached to their name.
If you've used Sono in the past, this update won't mess with your layout but it might alter some glyphs. I reorganized some stylistic sets for the sake of ease of use.
Enjoy.
Some subtle updates here and there, no real functionality enhancements, just cleaner (smarter) paths and more legible characters.
Cleaned up a lot of things and ditched the build script, now using Glyphs 3 exports for all files. Enjoy 👍
Vietnamese is looking a little better, added Schwa and Numero glyphs, fixed up paths on some figures.
Some important stylistic alternates (a, I, g) did not include any diacritics. This has been resolved.
Nothing else updated, so unless you needed aacute.ss01 (and others) this doesn't impact much.
Some updates were made to a few composites - mostly diacritic positioning and sizing. Quotesingle was broken (bad interpolation) and some other little cleanups were made.
Wakamai Fondue says Sono supports the following languages: Afrikaans, Albanian, Basque, Bosnian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Faroese, Filipino, Finnish, French, Galician, German, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malay, Norwegian Bokmål, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Welsh, Zulu
Should be stable, but missing some nice glyphs that would make this a decent font in a text editor.
Still working on it, but slowly.
