Rawstudio is an open-source program to read and manipulate RAW images from digital cameras.
It has been 3 years since version 1.0. Thanks to our great testers and translators we are now very happy and proud to present the official release of Rawstudio 2.0. We think we have achieved a significant leap over the previous versions.
We think we have achieved a level of operation, that will enable you to process a huge number of images quickly and easily, enabling you to get a high quality result you can share with everyone in a short amount of time. Our main focus in this version has been to have much more control over the color correctness and overall image quality. At the same time it has been a high priority for us to maintain a high speed of operations, so you can edit your RAW files even on netbooks and similar hardware.
Rawstudio 2.0 ready for takeoff!
At the same time we also feel that Rawstudio is now more usable out-of-the box. We have attempted to minimize the amount of “bumps” that new users should encounter when they try out the program the first few times. We hope we have gotten closer to this goal, and will continue this work in the future.
And of course hundreds of small corrections and changes that didn’t make it into this list.
We hope you will enjoy this new version. Again, we would like to thank everybody who contributed – with testing, feedback, test photos, translations and good spirit. Without you this release would not have been possible.
Since only a few issues has been brought forward in the beta version, we are now officially ready to call this a Release Candidate. Technically this is RC 2, since we discovered an image degradation bug right after switching to RC 1, so we decided not to announce it until we had that fixed.
We are currently working mostly on documentation and general information about Rawstudio. We have begun collecting the material we have on the Online Documentation page. Obviously a lot of information is still missing there, and if you are interested in helping out writing articles for this section, you are very welcome to contact us. We are also planning to add video guides for various tasks – if you have any experience or interest in that, also feel very welcome to contact us.
The changes since Beta include:
Huge speedup because of cache invalidation when zooming in/out and using loupe Fixed batch export of 8 bit images Fix command line options for debug printing Camera aliases for profiles can now be locally overriden Adjusted white saturation level for Canon EOS 60D Added support for Samsung NX-5 Added support for Panasonic FX-38 Fixed a few untranslatable strings Lots of translation updates Don’t attempts to load metadata from Sony A100, since it has invalid data Thanks again to everybody who has tested and helped out with translations. There are still a few translations pending, and we will add them as they come in, but if you do have the time and possibility to make one of the translations that are still marked incomplete, please do so very soon.
Thanks to the help from translators and testers, we are now ready with the first Beta version of 2.0. You can of course also use the SVN version, or our daily packaged Ubuntu builds for the latest version.
Since beta is so cool, we put it in CAPS!
Enjoy – and don’t forget to spam us with feedback! We are looking for bugs, not new features at the moment. When we get the final 2.0 version out, we will also be collecting ideas for the upcoming versions, so you can begin to make your list now!
This release adds a lot of small incremental improvements like sorting photos based on various photo data, more verbose tooltips for thumbnails and threaded loading of thumbnails and the usual swarm of bugfixes.
This is a bugfix release fixing bug 221, 222, 223, 227 and 230.
(These bugs refer to bugs in the old Rawstudio bugtracker at rawstudio.org)
This release adds the much needed EXIF awareness. It also adds support for a lot of new cameras, as has many bugfixes.
After more than two years of development and almost 2000 commits, we feel that Rawstudio has matured enough to get the version 1.0 title.
Go download and celebrate.
We hope to be able to release a final 1.0 in approximately 48 hours. We should use these two days to find that last annoying bug and the translators should use the time to make sure everything is translated.
This release adds a new sharpen-tool, exporting to GIMP for further editing, a nice in-window directory selector with optional recursive loading, the GUI has been spiced up to look much more modern, Rawstudio has been translated to more than 10 languages and as usual a ton of bugfixes and minor enhancements!
This release finally adds demosaic allowing photographers to work with and export photos at full resolution. We got nicer Cairo-based graphics and a ton of bugfixes as usual.
