This release merges upstream PuTTY 0.81 security changes and includes several PuTTY CAC specific changes. This release was compiled with Microsoft Visual Studio 2022.

Enhancements:

Added the ability to override user registry settings by setting like-named registry values under HKLM\Software\SimonTatham\PuTTY. This can allow administrators to turn off specific settings like PIN caching.

Changes:

Changed parent window for credential prompts to use the desktop window thereby causing the window to produce a taskbar-accessible icon. This can help the user locate the window if they had changed focus during the authentication process.
Addressed issue where PKCS mode may not properly pass PINs with multibyte characters to the token.
Addressed issue where PKCS mode may not honor PIN caching setting.
Addressed issue where PKCS mode login failure could crash Pageant.

This release merges upstream PuTTY 0.80 changes and includes two PuTTY CAC specific enhancements. This release was compiled with Microsoft Visual Studio 2022.

Enhancements

Added the ability to set of display name when creating a FIDO key. This field is not used in PuTTY CAC operations but can be useful for distinguishing keys in applications like Yubico Authenticator.
Added the ability to ignore any certificates that have a specific subject name from autoloading or being available in the certificate selection dialog boxes. You can set this creating a registry; an example is provided below:

REG ADD "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SimonTatham\PuTTY" /F /V IgnoreCertName /T REG_SZ /D "StringToIgnore"

This is an enhancement release for PuTTY CAC 0.79 that is based on the upstream PuTTY 0.79 code. This release was compiled with Microsoft Visual Studio 2022.

Enhancements

This is a bugfix release for PuTTY CAC 0.78 that is based on the upstream PuTTY 0.78 code. This release was compiled with Microsoft Visual Studio 2022. Special thanks to @wmagb and all those who helped address the issue in #101.

Bug Fixes:

Addressed an issue where certificate dialog selection dialogs did not launch properly. This was due to certain third-party credential providers (ActivClient, SecurID) being incompatible with the use of AddDllDirectory/SetDllDirectory within PuTTY. PuTTY CAC will now disable these calls by default to avoid conflicting with these third-party credential providers.

Addressed an issue where memory zeroing could lead to application crash.
Reintroduced workaround for smartcard dialog to render properly on Windows 7.
