OptCuts Versions Save

OptCuts, a new parameterization algorithm, jointly optimizes arbitrary embeddings for seam quality and distortion. OptCuts requires no parameter tuning; automatically generating mappings that minimize seam-lengths while satisfying user-requested distortion bounds.

  • OptCuts will no longer switch the vertex to cut a closed genus-0 surface whenever inversion is detected. The farthest point cut is recommended to cut a closed genus-0 surface.
  • Although this new version of OptCuts supports input geometry with multiple disconnected components and their UV and cuts will be optimized together, it is still recommended to run OptCuts with each single-connected component individually and then assemble the results, as the mesh cutting and distortion minimization of disconnected components are quite independent, and OptCuts does not optimize for layout efficiency anyway.
