  • Fixed an issue that western characters in XLang variants have wrong width.

Known Issue: Intersection of contours is shown white in Windows Font Viewer. Do not worry, it’s fine in World of Warcraft.

2 years ago

  • (For developer) the peak of memory consumption is ~ 5 GiB per job (extracting static instance from variable OTF).
  • (For developer) intermediate otd files are compressed with zstd, to reduce I/O pressure.

Known Issue: Intersection of contours is shown white in Windows Font Viewer. Do not worry, it’s fine in World of Warcraft.

v0.9.0

Introduce kerning for World of Warcraft.

  • This is implemented by adding legacy kern table to CFF-outlined OpenType font, which is not supported in OpenType specification, but works in World of Warcraft anyway.
  • More than 1000 generic kering pairs, covering all letters in Adobe Latin 1 and Adobe Cyrillic 1 character set.
  • Special fullwidth-colon-related () kerning pairs for zhCN text font (ARKai_T.ttf), trying to fix ill-behaved Mythic+ dungeon timer.

v0.8.1

Improve Windows icons:

  • base fonts (FRIZQT__.ttf and ARIALN.ttf) — the icon depends on Windows display language,
    • “文字美” for non-CJK,
    • “简体字” for Simplified Chinese,
    • “繁體字” for Traditional Chinese,
    • “あア亜” for Japanese,
    • “한글” for Korean;
  • Latin and Cyrillic fonts — “Abg”;
  • Simplified Chinese fonts — “简体字”;
  • Traditional Chinese fonts — “繁體字”;
  • Korean fonts — “한글”.

This change makes reducing font pack size much easier — you can simply switch to “large icons” and remove all files except “文字美” and the script you need.

  • Naming:
    • All fonts now share “Nowar Sans Region” family, with proper WWS and legacy names;
    • PostScript names make no sense;
