Intrigue Versions Save

Organize literature into ideas, fast.

v1.0.0-alpha3

This update fixes a problem where nodes could be snapped to itself, thereby causing an infinite loop when updating the UI.

v1.0.0-alpha2

This release fixes the problem described in #15, where the menu is missing on Windows and Linux platforms, and the share button could be un-clickable. Now, the frameless design is only used for macOS.

v1.0.0-alpha

This version is a preview of the upcoming 1.0.0 release. Please note that features such as importing old documents are not complete yet. There may be bugs hidden somewhere, so please be careful when using it for actual work.

Feature highlights:

  • Offline-first distributed collaborative editing powered by SyncedStore (Yjs behind the scenes). Create a web link that you can share to others and let them collaborate in real time. There's no central server. You keep and distribute your own data.
  • Zotero Quick Copy translator allows you to copy an item in Zotero, and paste it in a new Intrigue note to create a Reference. Upon double-clicking, it will lead you back to the item in Zotero. You can download the translator here.
  • URL metadata fetching are now back. Paste in a web link, and it will now again be correctly turned blue.
  • Undo/redo is now supported. No more worrying that you may make a mistake by deleting a node.

Upcoming for 1.0.0

  • Import and upgrade files created by older Intrigue versions.
  • Export to BibTeX, HTML, and various other formats.

Future plans for 1.x:

  • Deep linking support lets you copy a sharable link to not only the document, but any element in the canvas.

Known issues

  • Text notes that contain a URL among the text will be turned into a reference, thereby loosing the text content.

v0.1.6

This release adds support for automatically recognizing URLs, as well as zotero:// item links. Now you can use Quick Copy in Zotero to get an item link (as described here), and Intrigue will redirect to the item when the link is clicked.

On a related note, I've just published Snowball, a tool that enables you to quickly find and screen papers using the "snowballing" method. It saves you the pain of searching citation/reference lists by hand. Since the two apps are quite related, I've redesigned the icon of Intrigue along with the new Snowball icon. Now the two sits together better.

Happy researching!

P.S. This time, the multi-platform releases are all built on my M1 Mac. Please let me know if anything goes wrong.

v0.1.5

Builds now available for all three major platforms (Windows/macOS/Linux)! This update is now signed for the Mac version. Also, the Sci-Hub link is updated again.

v0.1.4

This update changes the double click link to you-know-where to one that is working ;)

v0.1.3

This release adds support for pasting BibTeX. You can now copy-paste a BibTeX entry to have it turned into a literature node.

v0.1.2

This demo release added support for the following:

  • Detecting ISBN number of books, and automatically find online resources upon double click.
  • Detecting and opening web URLs.
  • Edges are now curved. They now automatically adapt to node width, position, and snapping.

Things fixed:

  • Replaced the handle area design with dots.
  • Fixed an issue where a blue note does not show highlighted borders when being dropped with another node.

Known bugs:

  • Multiple notes can be snapped under the same note, causing them to overlap.
