The main changes in this major release are the new serverless functions served through Vercel that provides a GraphQL API for the frontend to consume, as well as a major migration of all data to Firebase on the backend. intern+ was routinely hitting the limits on the previous backend provider, causing the site to essentially be rendered useless and making it very costly to keep the site up – Firebase was chosen due to its extremely generous free limits for storing and querying data as a solution.
This release has been through two previous failed iterations using other frameworks, so it's a relief to finally be able to get this out!
