dahliaOS ISO releases
It's been quite a while since we've released an update to dahliaOS, but the day has come! We've spent the last year hard at work preparing our latest and greatest release! Here's what's changed!
P.S. If you like what we've done, feel free to help us out on Github or donate to us on Open Collective! https://opencollective.com/dahliaos
NOTE: IF YOU HAVE AN AMD DEVICE, THIS WILL NOT WORK. The best solution on AMD devices for now is virtualization. We recommend Gnome Boxes, QEMU, or Virtualbox.
Desktop Redesign: Pangolin has been completely rebuilt, with new features and functionality
New Search Functionality: You can now search through apps quickly, speeding up multitasking.
Improved Launcher: The launcher has been redesigned to separate applications into different categories
Compact Launcher: Press the arrow in the top right-hand corner of the launcher for a familiar compact app menu!
Improved Quick Settings Menu: The Quick Settings menu has been redesigned to prioritize the viewing of relevant information and configuration options.
Improved Taskbar: Applications can be pinned and unpinned, and windows can be minimized en-masse using the Show Desktop button.
New Window Manager: A new window manager for Pangolin, Utopia, improves the handling of windows and fixes memory issues caused by the previous window management solution.
Improved Applications: Files, Settings, Terminal, and Calculator have received significant updates to functionality and visuals.
Working web browsing and web applications: After a long struggle with getting web browsing to work, we've added a new web app runtime that will enable you to run web apps smoothly
Select web apps can now be installed from the new web app manager
The kernel has been updated to 5.17-rc5
The system now supports a variety of virtualization solutions, including Linux under QEMU and Fuchsia under FImage
Included binaries for dap and web_runtime
The system has been moved over to BTRFS for increased speed and stability
Improved networking stack: We've moved dahliaOS Linux over to using network-manager for faster scanning and easier configuration.
This build updates the Files app, adds a new way to receive updates, enhances translations, and fixes quite a few old bugs!
Legacy (For VMs and older hardware), and EFI (For Intel Macs / most modern computers). If you are in doubt, the Legacy image should be compatible with most machines. It is highly recommended that you keep the EFI image zipped up unless your imaging software does not support ZIP files, as it has roughly 200MB of empty space allocated for persistent storage.
Pangolin has been updated to commit f624938c1d8bf35c7033be89fb9c3d462f7f5bfd

This build adds a bunch of new features to Pangolin, and fixes some old bugs within the system! Remember, this is an alpha Pre-Release, and should not be used in production!
Pangolin has been updated to commit 2f107a8999721f245468bdc861a5eec4e0a4220f
This build adds many new features and updates the Pangolin Desktop Environment! Remember, this is an alpha Pre-Release, and should not be used in production!
This release now features the Pangolin UI! Simply log in and follow the prompt on boot to start the GUI to use Pangolin, or interact with the system through a command line. This build is universal, but also features optimizations for Apple devices and virtual devices through QEMU and VMWare. It is not recommended to run the Pangolin desktop in QEMU, as QEMU's emulated graphics card does not yet support the Vulkan API. Remember this is a pre-release and should not be used in production without modifying the login credentials.
This release features new support of networking, OpenGL (try glxgears), and the flutter tool! Remember, this is an alpha build and should not be used in production.
This build adds Neofetch, Apple touchpad drivers, QEMU drivers, and should fix the Mesa3D issue with Flutter. I have temporarily disabled Xorg Autostart on this build, so you will need to run rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf
prior to running startx
. Remember that this is an alpha build with known credentials and should not be used in production.
