Bugfixes

  • UI in diplomatic view does not allow human player to change AI's offer. Previous versions it looks like player can change it but it only affect on UI. Now UI does not allow changing it either.
  • Clean up UI for too tall text fields and removes unneeded ":" from labels.
  • Fixes JFrame growth on certain desktop environments when restarting the game
  • Ship designs can now have only one type of engines
  • Fixes rare bug where planet background was not fully drawn on planet views.
  • Removes extra spaces when wrapping the text in information text areas.

  • Leaders game mechanics
    • Leaders can be assigned to governors and fleet commanders. These will grant bonuses according the leader perks.
    • Leaders have limited life span which varies on space race where they belong.
    • Each realm will also have single leader assigned automatically as ruler. Ruler also grants bonuses for whole realm.
  • Each space race have unique name generators for leaders.
  • Leaders also caused minor changed to governments and leader lifespan for space race
    • Some governments can have heirs. These heirs are free leaders which might be a leader at some point.
    • Some governments will have election periodically to change leader to new one
  • When something significant happens to a leader there will be galactic news about it.
  • AI is able to handle also leaders
  • News music won't be playing full length when news screen is not visible
  • There is new music for new screen when some leader dies and this is shown as a first news.
  • New random event images
    • Meteor hits planet
    • Meteor misses planet
    • Mysterious signal
    • Technical breakthrough

  • Diplomatic victory . Requires building United Galaxy Towers. . Number of towers depend on Galaxy size. . Number of diplomatic votes are chosen when game is being created.
  • Galactic Olympics . Participating gives diplomatic bonus between realms who participated. . Not participating gives diplomatic bonus between realms who did not participate. . Olympic winner and organizes also receive cultural bonus.
  • Domination victory require only over 50% of home planets, not all

Bug fixes:

  • Fixed wrong size JFrame boundary on Windows 10 machines.
  • AI does not make map trade over and over again unless map is really updated.
  • Trade mission can be now started from ally's panet and fixed NPE from that.

Version updated from Alpha to Beta

Currently game is very much playable and contains quite much of finished things. So I decided to change Alpha to Beta since this is getting closer and closer to be finished game. Of course this is not done yet, but current version can be played and the won and lose multiple ways.

New features and changes

  • Space pirates are now the "board" player playing against all realms
  • When new space pirates are added there will news about them
  • Automatic trade missions for human players ( New Trade fleet view )
  • Government types giving benefits and disadvantages
  • Colonized planet now has happiness value if government type is not Hive-minded or AI
  • War cause fatigue which cause more unhappiness on planet
  • Credits cannot go negative, instead they cause war fatigue or destroy buildings
  • New planetary events
    • Molten lava
    • Black monolith
    • Ancient palace
  • Space anomalies to find which can contain good or harmful events
  • New popup display used when discovering space anomalies
  • Diplomatic trade now allows trading planets and fleet which are visible to other party

  • Fixed possible NullPointerException on AI's spy missions
