When loading the app for the first time no default language is set. The translation system fails to load the "select language" string and causes an exception. This has now been changed to include a fall back to english which is guaranteed to exist in the app.
Translation fixes no more scale to zero.

All generators and converters have been rewritten under the hood in a node-based system.
much refactoring has been done to untangle the spaghetti that is a ten year old codebase.
No translations have been prepared - even english strings are missing in many cases.
