  • Resizeable tiling Thanks to @NastuzziSamy work on the resizeable portion we can now resize the windows tiled.

  • Multi-monitor hotkeys You can now focus and move window to external monitor through keyboard shortcuts and there is new default hotkeys configuration

  • New Focus effect To help distinguish the current focused window there is a new default dim effect on inactive window but can be disabled or switched in the settings for a border effect

  • Static Workspaces Thanks to @NastuzziSamy you can now enable the static workspace in GNOME Tweaks feature and set a fixed number of workspaces you want.
  • Context menu on Touchscreen You can now display the context menu of the workspace buttons or the applications tabs with a long press on a touch screen

Bug fixes

  • GNOME Shell 3.38 Instabilities Fix allocation issues mostly on Wayland and mostly when unlocking the session that broke Material Shell. Should be stable now :crossed_fingers:
  • Touch screen crashes Fix most but not all ... reasons that made reordering workspace list with touchscreen freeze the shell.
  • Fix Blurry font or weird font rendering on the application launcher

New Features

  • New layout switcher The layout switcher is now a context menu with a configurable list of layout available tweak-able at the workspace level. You can use your mouse-wheel to quickly switch among the enabled layouts You can now configure the number of column displayed in the split layout
  • Applications launcher improvements The launcher now correctly updates when a new application is installed and the results can be scrolled with the navigation key.
  • New Tooltips You can now see properly cropped text on the application launcher or application tabs.
  • Scroll on panels You can now navigate among Application or Workspace by scrolling among panels.
  • New Insert Window workflow When a new window is opened while focusing a window, the new window is inserted after the focused one. If the newly created window is closed the focus automatically return to the previous window. To allow much more predictable behavior when using software that open side windows.

Bug fixes

  • Modals fixes The dialogs / modals / pop ups should now be handled much better. You can now move them independently above their parent and the "always above" kind of modals should now properly behave.
  • Application that close on startup Some applications that launched multiple of dialogs / splashscreen on startup could crash on startup like Intellij, Android Studio, Steam... That's should be fixed
  • 3.38 fixes Plenty of fixes for 3.38 compatibility, persistence should restore correctly all previous workspace & Material Shell is now properly enabled after unlocking the session.
  • Primary color can now be tweaked properly
